Caltech Center for Teaching, Learning, & Outreach

Formally started in August 2012 and reporting to the Office of the Provost, the Caltech CTLO supports and connects university teaching and learning with K-12 and public educational outreach under a unified umbrella.

In this way, Caltech faculty can easily access services related to teaching a wide variety of audiences. Caltech students, both graduate and undergraduate, also gain experience designing, delivering, and assessing educational offerings in a variety of settings. These experiences contribute to multi-disciplinary knowledge, communication, mindset as early career role models and mentors, and future success in STEM-related fields.

The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens

A private, nonprofit institution, The Huntington was founded in 1919 by Henry E. Huntington, an exceptional businessman who built a financial empire that included railroad companies, utilities, and real estate holdings in Southern California.

Huntington was also a man of vision – with a special interest in books, art, and gardens. During his lifetime, he amassed the core of one of the finest research libraries in the world, established a splendid art collection, and created an array of botanical gardens with plants from a geographic range spanning the globe. These three distinct facets of The Huntington are linked by a devotion to research, education, and beauty.

Pacific Oaks College & Children School

Pacific Oaks College is a nonprofit, accredited higher education institution offering bachelor's-completion and master's programs in human development, counseling, education, early childhood education, and teacher credentialing. The school offers classes at its main campus in Pasadena and at a number of convenient instructional sites throughout California, as well as online.

Founded 70 years ago by a small group of Quaker families, Pacific Oaks College has remained dedicated to the fundamental Quaker principles of inclusion, social justice, and the valuing of every human being. Three basic concepts underlie the educational philosophy at Pacific Oaks:

•that every individual has a fundamental worth;

•that growth is a dynamic and life-long process;

•and that every individual has a unique identity and human potential.

Pacific Oaks has a long history of serving non-traditional and adult students and has become known and recognized for its progressive approach to teaching and learning—valuing real-world experiences in addition to academic achievements. This philosophy is embodied in the school's Experiential Learning approach, and opportunities such as the Credit for Learning from Experience option which allows students to gain academic credit for real-world experiences.

Pacific Oaks is accredited by the WASC Senior Colleges and Universities Commission (WSCUC), and has been since 1959.

Children & Families Commission of Orange County

The Children and Families Commission of Orange County is a leader in responding to children's needs and supporting programs and policy best practices for children's health and development.

The Commission was created as a result of Proposition 10, the California Children and Families Act of 1998, which added a 50-cent sales tax on tobacco products sold in California and required that funds raised be used to support education, health and child development programs for children from the prenatal stage through age five. Funds collected statewide are allocated to local county commissions based on each county's birth rate.

The Children and Families Commission of Orange County has identified, funded and supported programs with demonstrable positive impacts on children's health and school readiness. Our strong strategic partnerships have allowed us to leverage collective resources to better meet the challenges associated with keeping children healthy and ready to learn.

Our work has been replicated across the state, as we have become known as a reliable, collaborative partner in Orange County, within the First Five community, statewide and nationally.
